Keep The Heat Out, Not In
Roof-level insulation upgrades that steady indoor temperature and cut air-conditioning load — layered under the waterproofing, not instead of it.

The Second Bill You Pay For A Hot Roof
A leaking roof is an obvious cost. An uninsulated roof is an invisible one — paid monthly, to DEWA, for every year the building stands.
UAE roofs absorb the equivalent of an industrial furnace all summer: metal sheet surfaces above 70°C, concrete screeds above 60. Without a thermal break, that heat radiates straight into the occupied or stored volume below, and the AC system pays for it around the clock. Our clients typically contact us for waterproofing first and discover mid-survey that half of their discomfort (and energy spend) is heat, not water — which is why the two scopes are always reviewed together.
Roof Insulation Options We Install
| Option | Best suited to | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Underside metal-roof insulation | Industrial sheds, warehouses | Rockwool/foil-faced rolls under purlins, per-bay sections, no production stop |
| Screed + insulation rebuild (combo route) | Concrete roofs being re-waterproofed | See combo roofing; cheapest moment to insulate |
| Cool-roof reflective coating | Flat concrete roofs, podiums | Surface temperature reduction; needs sound substrate — details |
| Water tank jackets | Villas, factories, buildings | Water temperature stability + shell protection — details |
| Turnkey thermal programs | Multiple roofs, portfolio owners | Audit of all assets, prioritized scope list |
Where Heat Actually Enters
Roof field
99% of roof area — the deciding layer. Insulation choice dominates the outcome.
Skylights
Small area, concentrated sun entry — can be shaded/insulated without stopping roof level access.
Wall junctions
Thermal bridges and gaps at parapets leak heat too; included in surveys.
Service penetrations
Unsealed pipes and cable entries = bypass paths for hot air.

Insulation FAQs
Depends on the starting point — an uninsulated metal roof behaves like a radiator putting heat straight into the air below. Insulating the underside (plus reflective systems above, where suitable) typically reduces the cooling load through the roof dramatically.
Waterproofing is the priority when there is an active leak, but doing them together is the economical route: if the roof is being opened or re-coated anyway, insulation is cheap to add at that exact moment. That is why our quotes present the two scopes as one coordinated pricing set, not separate trades.
Yes — underside insulation on metal roofs is installed in sections from man-lifts, sequenced per bay so production continues below. Roof openings (skylights, ribs) are cut around with trim so the insulation layer stays airtight.
External jackets: ROCK panels / PU foam slabs or rolls with weatherproof cladding, plus insulated covers. Tank insulation cuts water temperature swing (and evening rewarm costs) and protects the tank shell from surface rust. See water tank insulation.
On flat concrete roofs with no ceiling space and high sun exposure — usually yes: a reflective coating lowers surface temperature significantly (structural heat load down, AC savings). On rough, badly prepared or previously painted surfaces, no — adhesion fails and it flakes in two seasons. Survey verdict + samples first; see cool roof coatings.
Material warranties come from the manufacturer and are handed over with datasheets; our installation workmanship warranty covers the application itself for 5 years. Where insulation is combined with EPDM waterproofing, the waterproofing warranty terms apply (warranty framework).
